From choosing a test to understanding the result

Choosing the right test
Tests are chosen for a reason. If you start with a health assessment, we suggest tests that could change the advice you receive. If you choose a test yourself, we explain what it can and cannot show.
Your blood collection
Your sample is taken in person at a partner collection facility. We will explain how to arrange your appointment.
Preparing for your test
Some tests need you to fast or to have your sample taken at a particular time of day. We will tell you if this applies. Keep taking prescribed medicines unless a clinician tells you otherwise, and tell us about any supplements: biotin (vitamin B7), found in some hair and nail products, can distort some results.
Your results
Your sample is analysed by our laboratory partner, and we let you know when your results are ready.
After testing
Your results are explained in plain language. If you would like to talk them through, or if they suggest a next step, you can speak to our team or move on to a health assessment.
What blood tests cannot do
A normal result is reassuring but does not rule out every condition, and a result just outside the reference range is not always a problem. Results can change with time of day, recent illness, exercise, food and medicines. That is why results are best interpreted alongside your history rather than as numbers on their own.
